As an employee or retiree of the state of North Carolina, related entities, or an immediate family member, you are eligible for membership in State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU). Below you can learn more about the benefits of membership including products and services we offer.

Membership benefits

At SECU, we are a member-owned cooperative based in North Carolina with a presence in all 100 counties. We have provided financial services to North Carolina state government employees and their families since 1937. We are the second-largest credit union in the United States, serving over 2.8 million members. Our focus has remained the same: we aim to meet members where they are, stay financially sound, and make a difference in our communities.

To be eligible for this discount, members must be a current full-time or retired employee of the state of North Carolina (including public school employees) and members’ state payroll or retirement benefits from a plan administered by the North Carolina Retirement Systems division of the Department of State Treasurer must be on direct deposit with SECU.
