Frequently asked questions about debit cards

CashPoints cards can be used at CashPoints network ATMs to deposit or withdraw funds. You can also use a PLUS® network ATM to inquire about or withdraw funds. CashPoints ATMs are available across North Carolina for 24/7 account access. CashPoints cards may also be used at any participating merchant that accepts Interlink or Maestro Network PIN-based cards. CashPoints cards must be linked to a Checking Account to make purchase transactions.

No. We do not offer pre-paid debit cards. Pre-paid debit cards often come with a high number of fees to maintain and use. As an alternative, we offer a CashPoints Global Account and CashPoints Global Card to help you control your spending and eliminate non-sufficient funds (NSF) fees.

Visa debit cards, including CashPoints Global cards, can be activated by calling (866) 322-2377 or by completing a PIN-based transaction at any CashPoints ATM. CashPoints cards do not require activation.

Verify your contact information is correct to ensure easy card activation.

You can change your PIN at any CashPoints ATM under the My SECU menu by selecting the "More" option.

If you forget your PIN, contact Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562 to request a PIN mailer.

All SECU debit cards can be used at CashPoints and PLUS network ATMs and at national Interlink and Maestro merchants. Visa debit cards can also be used worldwide and online at participating Visa merchants.

Review our Cardholder Travel Tips to plan ahead and avoid potential fraud before you leave.

Generally, there are no fees for PIN- and signature-based transactions in the United States, or for ASK SECU voice response and CashPoints ATM transactions. SECU assesses a surcharge for withdrawals using certain non-SECU issued cards at CashPoints ATMs. You will be notified during the transaction before you are charged if the fee applies to your non-SECU issued card.

PLUS ATM transactions incur a $0.75 fee for completed transactions and a $0.35 fee for denied transactions. Third-party ATM operators may impose additional fees.

Your account will be charged an international transaction fee of 1% of the U.S. dollar amount of each international transaction (including phone or internet transactions conducted in U.S. dollars with a foreign merchant). Consult your cardholder agreement for more information on how this fee is calculated and when it is charged.

Report a lost or stolen card immediately by calling Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562. Representatives can assist you with replacing your card and reporting any fraudulent transactions.

You can replace a lost card for $8. If you think you’ve misplaced your card and would like to look for it before requesting a replacement, use the Card Lock feature in the Mobile App while you search.

Yes. You can request a card be sent via rush delivery for a $15 fee. All shipments must be delivered to a physical address, not a P.O. Box. You can request the card be shipped to your local branch for pickup if you do not have a secure mailbox for delivery. A rushed replacement card typically takes 2-3 business days to arrive.

We employ numerous security features and fraud monitoring programs to help protect you from potential fraud, including automated text alerts to your mobile device to verify irregular card activity.

To receive Irregular Card Activity Alerts, you must have agreed to the terms of our Online Services Agreement and maintain your current text number with us. You can withdraw your consent to receive these alerts at any time by texting STOP or by calling Member Services Support.

We can’t block all threats to your account. Protect yourself and monitor your account by registering your card for Debit Card Alerts so you can be notified in near real-time of selected debit card activity.

You can dispute debit card transactions through Member Access, by calling (888) 732-8562, or visiting your local branch.

If you notice transactions that you did not make or approve, notify us immediately by contacting Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562. If you do not report fraud in a timely manner, we may not be able to reimburse you.
