Notary & signature guarantee

Notary1 and signature guarantee2 services are available for members at all branch locations. These services are provided for our members at no cost.

United States Savings Bonds

United States Savings Bonds may be redeemed through State Employees’ Credit Union.

Redeem bonds

You may redeem paper Series EE, Series E, and Series I United States Savings Bonds at any SECU branch location. The Credit Union is not authorized to redeem Series HH Bonds, but may be able to assist you in submitting your bonds to the Treasury for redemption. If you have electronic bonds, you may redeem them through logging into TreasuryDirect.

Purchase bonds

Series EE and Series I United States Savings Bonds may be purchased online directly from the US Treasury by going to the TreasuryDirect home page. This web page includes in-depth information about savings bonds and provides a link to a guided tour with information about opening a TreasuryDirect account, electronically purchasing bonds, and managing bonds in your account. Series E Bonds are no longer available for purchase, and paper savings bonds in any series are no longer sold at financial institutions.

Coinstar®3 kiosks allow members to deposit or exchange loose change for cash without the hassle of rolling coins.

Coin redemption options

  • Coin to Deposit (C2D): deposit funds via the kiosk into your primary SECU Checking or CashPoints® Global Account for immediate availability using any SECU Debit Card.
  • Redeem your voucher with a teller to receive cash, deposit into an account, or make a payment on a loan or credit card.

Foreign currency

Planning to travel abroad? SECU debit and credit cards work in most foreign countries. Members may also order or exchange foreign currency at any SECU branch.

Order foreign currency

Before you depart, visit your local branch to order foreign currency.5,6 SECU branches do not carry foreign currency, however, orders can typically be fulfilled within three business days.7 We recommend that you place your order at least a week or more in advance of your travel.

We may not be able to provide or accept all currencies. To determine which currencies are available, send us a secure message through Member Access, contact your local branch, or call Member Services Support at (888) 732-8562.6

Exchange rates and fees

Foreign currency may be exchanged at any SECU branch. Exchanging currency at an airport or foreign ATM may be convenient but could be costly due to fees. SECU does not charge a processing fee to purchase or exchange foreign paper currency. Exchange rates are determined by our third-party processor and do change daily.8

Foreign checks

We may accept checks drawn on certain non-U.S. (foreign) financial institutions. However, these checks must be sent to a third-party processor for collection; therefore, immediate credit and access to the funds is not available. Visit your local branch for more information about foreign checks.
