FAT CAT

To complement our FAT CAT program for youth members 12 and under, SECU offers educational resources designed for elementary age students. Topics include careers, needs versus wants, savings accounts, and economics. Activities and workbooks are available to accompany lessons and employee-led presentations.

Biz Kid$

Biz Kid$ is an exciting financial education program for middle school students. The program is taught using television shows, available on DVD, featuring young entrepreneurs and their financial choices. Topics include how to use credit wisely, saving, budgeting, investing, donating, and running a business. Biz Kid$ also includes a website with video clips, program materials, and more.

Reality of Money

SECU’s Reality of Money financial simulation is a valuable hands-on, interactive, real-world activity suggested for students in grades 8-12. It can be used with large groups or in smaller classroom settings. Students are exposed to important financial learning points such as the value of education beyond high school and the effects bad credit has on lifestyle choices.

Consumer education presentations

Credit Union employees are trained to offer a variety of financial and consumer education presentations, which are available to member and community groups across the state. Topics include debt management, identity theft prevention, retirement planning, and more.

Savings workshop

Sensible Savings Sessions

SECU serves as a presenter for Sensible Savings Sessions, free workshops offered by the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) for North Carolina’s State employees. During these workshops, State employees learn about a wide variety of resources intended to help them plan for a prosperous financial future.
